Vermeil is the largest and most complex piece of art I have ever made (not including art installations). She consists of a large stellated dodecahedron and a base made from over 200 pieces, and is animated by 288 LEDs. There is iridescent dichro acrylic inlayed into each face under the wooden design layer, clear dichro in the star and diffuse dichro for the base. I wrote three unique animations to drive the lighting that are customized to this particular design. There’s also a global brightness knob, and a selection switch that let’s you pick one animation or the auto cycle mode that switches between them every 5-10 minutes.
